ILOILO City – Two rival gangs clashed yesterday in Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district. Two teenagers sustained injuries.
One was 16 years old. He had a stab wound on the waist. The other was 14 years old. He had a stab wound on the. Both were residents of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district and members of Rapcy gang. They were hospitalized.
A suspect had been arrested – a 14-year-old land. He was detained at the Arevalo police station. Another suspect was able to elude police arrest.
Both suspects were residents of Barangay Calaparan and members of Mcstuffin Jr. gang.
According to Police Major Chen Tañagras of the Arevalo police station, the clash happened at around 2 a.m.
The two gangs were newly formed, said Tañagras.
“We have to place more policemen in the area,” Tañagras added.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recently said it was monitoring 13 gangs. But Rapcy and Mcstuffin Jr. were not in its list. The 13 gangs were:

“Indi man gid ‘ni sila fraternity or mabaskog nga grupo, kundi daw mga grupo-grupo sang pamatan-on. Nag grupo-grupo sila kay daw binoy-an kay two years nga wala sila nakagwa because of the pandemic, so sang naghalog na, nag umpisa na grupo-grupo,” said ICPO spokesperson Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines.
The ICPO’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) are starting to locate their whereabouts and trying to reach out to their leaders.
“We don’t want nga mag-umpisa naman rumble-rumble sa city. We have to monitor their movements and arrest them should they violate health protocols,” Sangrines said./PN
