ILOILO – Two persons were stabbed in Sitio Tipolo, Barangay Bobon, Banate town around 12:40 a.m. yesterday.
Police identified the victims as John Rey Emotin, 18, and Keneth Lester Piosca, 19, both residents of the town’s Barangay Bariga.
The Banate town police said the suspect, Michael Mondega of Barangay Jelicuon Oeste, New Lucena town, was at a waiting shed when the victims arrived and punched him for no apparent reason.
Mondega retaliated by stabbing the victims, said Police Lieutenant Dandy Ilalto, officer-in-charge of the Banate police station.
“May binayle kay piyesta sa Barangay Bobon. Wala man kami may nakita nga motibo, amo lang gid ni ‘guro na-tripingan ang suspect… kay may upod ‘ni siya tatlo ka mga dalaga. Mapadul-ong ‘ni dapat nga mapuli, ginsunod sila sang mga biktima kag didto na natabu nga ginsumbag nila ang suspect,” Ilalto added.
Emotin sustained stab wounds on his chest and right arm while Piosca sustained stab wound on his neck. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Banate police station./PN
