ILOILO City – A total of 21 unlicensed firearms were turned over by barangay officials to personnel of the Tigbauan Municipal Police Station (MPS) on Wednesday, September 16.
The turnover was facilitated by Police Captain Alfred Mansoy, officer-in-charge of the Tigbauan MPS.
Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), reported that the cache of loose weapons consisted of caliber .38 revolvers, 12-gauge shotguns, caliber .22, and caliber .45 pistols.
Razalan credited the successful surrender to the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Restrict, Track and Turn-in (RTT) campaign, alongside strong community involvement and support from the barangay officials.
“Our objective is not only to recover loose firearms but also to prevent them from being used in criminal activities,” stated Razalan. “Through continued cooperation and collaboration with our communities and stakeholders, we can reduce the presence of loose firearms and further strengthen public safety and security throughout Iloilo province.”
The surrendered firearms remained under police custody for proper disposition./PN
