BACOLOD City — A total of 279 newly appointed police officers took their oath of office on September 16, formally beginning their service in communities across the Negros Island Region (NIR).
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) held the oath-taking and turnover ceremony under its 2026 Attrition and Regular Recruitment Program at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Grandstand, Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.
PRO-NIR director Brigadier General Rudecindo L. Reales led the ceremony, which was attended by police officials, members of the screening committee, and the recruits’ families.
Of the 279 recruits, 168 were selected under the attrition recruitment program, consisting of 136 males and 32 females.
Another 111 were hired through the regular recruitment program, comprising 97 males and 14 females.
Following the oath-taking, the newly appointed patrolmen and patrolwomen were formally turned over to the Negros Island Regional Training Center for basic police training.
The training will focus on developing their knowledge, skills, discipline, and professional values as members of the police force.
In his message, Reales reminded the recruits that police service entails more than wearing a uniform, emphasizing the importance of integrity, accountability, and respect for the law.
He also reminded them that rank does not justify an unlawful order and urged them to report wrongdoing through proper channels.
“Your uniform will identify you as a police officer. Your integrity will define what kind of police officer you become,” Reales said.
The induction of the new personnel forms part of PRO-NIR’s efforts to strengthen its workforce and develop a disciplined, capable, and people-centered police force for communities across the region./PN
