3 high-value suspects fall with P2.4-M ‘shabu’ in La Paz

ILOILO City – As part of intensified 2026 Dinagyang Festival security, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized approximately 360 grams of suspected shabu in Zone 4, Barangay Baldoza, La Paz district.

Authorities arrested three high-value suspects after seizing P2,448,000 worth of the said illegal substance at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20.

They were identified as aliases “Strokey,” 43, unemployed, and a resident of La Paz; “Jojo,” 38, a truck helper from La Paz; and “Cy,” 46, a construction worker from Molo district.

The operation was led by the Iloilo City Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the Police Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 6, Regional Intelligence Unit 6, and Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Iloilo City Police Station 2 (ICPS2).

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan said the operation forms part of heightened law enforcement and security efforts being implemented as the highlights of the Dinagyang Festival approach, to ensure a safe, peaceful, and drug-free environment for both residents and visitors.

“To our communities, rest assured that PRO-6 remains steadfast in its fight against illegal drugs and all forms of criminality here in Western Visayas, with compassion, integrity, and resolve,” he added.

The suspects are presently in the custody of ICPS2. They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, specifically Section 5 (Illegal Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 26 (Conspiracy to Commit Illegal Drug Offenses), Section 11 (Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 12 (Possession of Equipment, Instruments, Apparatus and Other Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs)./PN
