KALIBO, Aklan – Three women mayors were re-elected in the province of Aklan towns of Lezo, Malinao and Buruanga.
Incumbent Lezo mayor Mary Lenette Fernandez of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) defeated independent candidate Amy Lei Nagrama by a wide margin.
Fernandez gained 7,098 votes against 1,418 votes of Nagrama in the unofficial results sourced from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) transparency server.
Reelectionist vice mayor George Villarubia of Nacionalista Party (NP), who ran unopposed, polled 7,049 votes.
So far, the councilors in the winning circle are all Tibyog Akean candidates. They are Meekia Icasas (PDP Laban), Peter Cyril Besana (NP), Gwyn Zeus Dela Cruz (PDP Laban), Rafael Silverio (PDP Laban), Romy Abello (NP), Ulysses Irabon (NP), Ermeda Morales (NP) and Rodulfo Taran (PDP Laban).
Other leaders re-elected for the mayoral seats are Concepcion Labindao of Buruanga (PDP Laban) and Josephine Iquina of Malinao (PDP Laban).
Labindao tallied 7,177 votes against 2,388 votes of Danilo Tanieza (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas).
Labindao’s running mate Femy Dumaguin (PDP Laban) also got 6,307 votes for the vice mayoral seat against 2,966 votes of PFP’s candidate Ariel Chavez.
Buruanga councilors are Genevieve Obrique-Tabo (Progressive Movement for the Devolution of Initiatives), Wevena Malayas (Promdi), Gerald Panagsagan (PDP Laban), Allan Dagohoy (PDP Laban), Macario Panganiban (PDP Laban), Carlos Dumalaog (PDP Laban), Robert Obrique (PFP) and Benito Sualog, Jr. (Promdi).
In Malinao, Iquina obtained 9,769 votes against her rival Leocadio Iledan of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, who got 3,178 votes.
Malinao vice mayor Wilbert Ariel Igoy (NP), who is running without opponents, had 10,624 votes.
The Iquina-Igoy tandem also swept to victory all the seats in the Sangguniang Bayan. The councilors are Edwin Garcia (NP), Nestor Tacud (PDP Laban), Ricardo Ibarreta Jr. (NP), Junito Iscala (NP), Eleanor Agustino (PDP Laban), Raul Quinisio (PDP Laban), Christian Amado Ilio (NP) and Tsaldariz Ildesa (PDP Laban)./PN
