ILOILO City – They messed with the wrong man.
Three people – including two minors – were arrested for stealing a car battery on Burgos Street, Barangay General Hughes-Montes, City Proper, a police report showed.
No less than the car battery owner Romar Magbanua, 49, tracked down and apprehended the suspects with the help of his policeman brother, Police Officer 3 Russel Magbanua.
The 24-year-old Kirk Duran of Muelle Loney Street and the two boys were caught at around 5 p.m. on March 1.
At around 1 p.m. that day Romar discovered that the 12-volt battery of his multi-cab parked along the road in their village was missing.
In a footage captured by a neighbor’s security camera, Romar saw a tricycle passed by the area where the multi-cab was parked at around 12:30 a.m.
The driver was later identified as Duran.
One of the two passengers – later identified as the minor suspects – took the battery from the multi-cab and boarded the tricycle, and they fled.
Along with his policeman brother, Romar saw Duran and the tricycle believed used in the thievery parked on Dela Rama Street.
When confronted, Duran admitted to the crime and pointed to two minors as his accomplices, the police report stated.
The car battery worth P1,800 was recovered from the minors, police said.
Duran was placed in the custodial facility of Police Station 1 while the minors were turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk./PN
