KALIBO, Aklan – Four minors were placed in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development after the police caught them for their alleged involvement in a series of theft incidents.
The four children in conflict with law were said to be members of the notorious “Dela Rosa Group.”
They stole mobile phones from an apartment on Oyo Torong Street, swords and airsoft guns from a business establishment in Barangay Estancia, and a flat-screen television from a house in Barangay Pook, police said.
They also stole four motorcycles, Senior Inspector Honey Mae Ruiz said.
Some of the items recovered from the minors were taken to the police station and presented to the press on July 31, Ruiz said. She urged the victims to verify the items.
“Sa ngayon wala tayong lead na ang minors ay may handler. Pati mga parents posibleng kasuhan natin,” Ruiz said.
Furthermore, Ruiz said they were investigating if the minors were involved in other theft incidents. She also advised the public to secure their properties.
Under the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, children aged 15 years old and below arrested for a crime shall be exempt from jail but will have to undergo counseling before they are returned to their families. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
