ILOILO City – Police caught six persons engaging in illegal gambling in Barangay Boulevard, Molo district.
They were Jake Portillo, 52; Raul Antiquia, 55; Rocenel Soloriano, 50; and Jaime Nodado, 49; Luzvilla Morin, 60; and Marvin Domingo, 34.
Police reports showed Portillo, Antiquia and Soloriano were recipients of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
The suspects were nabbed after police officers chanced upon them playing pusoy around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.
Recovered from their possession were bet money which amounted to P6,100 and two sets of playing card, police said.
Detained in the lockup cell of the Molo police station, the suspects face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, or the anti-illegal gambling law.
Authorities intensified their crackdown against all forms of illegal gambling following reports that some local residents use their cash amelioration to gamble and engage in drinking sprees while the entire city is under quarantine./PN
