BACOLOD City – A sugarcane plantation worker from San Remigio, Antique was stabbed to death in Hacienda Guza, Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The 25-year-old Joemar Olalio, of Barangay Bawang died of multiple stab wounds on the different parts of the body, a police report showed.
Police said Olalio’s companions – Michael Sinoy of Barangay Valderrama, Bugasong, Antique and Jun-Jun Alejo of Barangay Bawang – were responsible for the stabbing.
Olalio, Sinoy and Alejo were having a drinking binge before the incident, according to Talisay City police chief Superintendent Adonis Rosales.
From what they have gathered so far, Rosales said Sinoy and Alejo punched Olalio on the face for an unknown reason.
Olalio retaliated by hitting Sinoy with a chair.
Sinoy then draw his bladed weapon and ran after Olalio, who managed to escape, police said.
Around 4:30 on Oct. 1, Sinoy and Alejo went to a barracks where Olalio was sleeping and assaulted him with the bladed weapon.
Sinoy and Alejo were detained at the Talisay City police station lockup facility.
Police were still identifying the motive in the stabbing./PN
