Motorcycle driver dies in road crash

ILOILO City – A motorcycle crashed against a sport utility vehicle in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes, Iloilo on Saturday, a police report showed.

The motorcycle driver – 52-year-old Albert Catindig of Barangay Sigangao, Leganes – died of head injuries.

Prior to the crash Catindig was driving behind a Mitsubishi Montero Sport at around 9 a.m., investigation led by Police Officer 2 Refel Dahay showed.

The 59-year-old Erwin Lizada of Barangay Hechanova, Jaro district was driving the SUV, police said.

The SUV was about to turn left – Lizada claimed he signaled – when the motorcycle hit its rear, investigation showed.

Due to the impact, Catindig was thrown off the motorcycle and hit an unmoving car, said the police.

Catindig was taken to the St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo where he was pronounced dead.

Lizada was taken to the Leganes police station for a settlement./PN
