
BACOLOD City – The former village chief of Barangay Punta Mesa, Manapla, Negros Occidental was arrested for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
Officers of the municipal police station served a search warrant at the residence of Weddy Causing, 77, around 6 a.m. on March 24.
The raid led to the recovery of a .45-caliber pistol, three magazines and 24 live bullets; one .357-caliber revolver loaded with five live bullets; and two improvised shotgun (sulpak) loaded with nine live bullets, a police report showed.
Causing was detained in the custodial facility of the Manapla police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
