ILOILO City – A 46-year-old man was wounded when his drunken friend shot him on Sunday in Barangay Burgos, La Paz district.
Police identified the victim as Robert Ventura, a resident of the village. He was rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district for a gunshot wound on the left shoulder.
The suspect was 43-year-old Reynaldo Ybañez.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. when the two men were about to go home after having dinner at another friend’s house.
Ventura reportedly refused when Ybañez asked to ride his motorcycle.
This may have triggered the suspect to attack Ventura, police said.
Ybañez tried to escape but was later arrested through a hot pursuit operation. He was detained at the La Paz police station./PN
