CAPIZ — Nearly 3,000 scholars in Capiz received financial assistance from the Comprehensive Program for Identified Scholars (CAPIS) during a distribution held April 25, 2026, at the Capiz Gymnasium in Roxas City.
A total of 2,774 continuing scholars from the province’s two districts benefited from the program, including 1,431 from the first district and 1,343 from the second district. The recipients are enrolled in both public and private educational institutions.
The CAPIS program, a flagship initiative of the Provincial Government led by Governor Fredenil H. Castro, aims to strengthen access to education and support the development of a skilled and competitive youth sector.
This year, scholarship assistance for continuing scholars was increased to P5,000 each, up from P2,500 per semester previously, regardless of school type.
In addition, 57 scholars enrolled in specialized courses in Environmental Veterinary, Fisheries, and Forestry (EVAFF) will receive P10,000 each, in recognition of the higher costs associated with these programs.
Governor Castro underscored the importance of investing in education, describing the assistance as support for the aspirations of Capiznon youth.
“We are investing in your hopes and dreams, equipping you with the means to pursue your education,” he said.
In his message, Castro also urged scholars to value the sacrifices of their families and strive to excel academically.
“Your success is not only a reflection of your abilities but also a tribute to your family’s dedication,” he added.
He further called on the students to become responsible and informed members of society, encouraging them to stand against misinformation and promote truth within their communities.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude from the scholars, who said the financial aid would help ease the burden of educational expenses and allow them to focus more on their studies.
