
ILOILO City – An anti-illegal drugs operation of the Estancia Municipal Police Station led to the arrest of a 62-year-old man and the seizure of around P2.4 million worth of suspected shabu in Purok 2, Barangay Tabu-an, Estancia, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Reno,” a resident of the town’s Purok 3, Barangay Bayuyan.
The operation was carried out at around 4:36 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, after the suspect completed a drug transaction with a police poseur buyer.
Authorities recovered approximately 354 grams of the said illegal substance from the suspect.
As of this writing, Reno was detained at the Estancia police station. He will be charged for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Colonel Bayani Razalan lauded his men for the successful operation.
“There’s no room for illegal drugs in Iloilo province. We will remain relentless in pursuing drug personalities and disrupting their operations in accordance with the law,” Razalan said, emphasizing the IPPO’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and all forms of criminality.
Razalan added that the IPPO is conducting follow-up intelligence operations to identify the suspect’s drug source, associates, financiers, and distribution network./PN
