CAPIZ – Team Capiz reaffirmed its dominance in disaster response and emergency rescue after clinching the Overall Championship title for the third consecutive year in the 2026 Regional Rescuelympics held in Antique from July 26 to 28.
The provincial rescue team topped the annual regional competition, besting contingents from across Western Visayas in a series of physically demanding and technically challenging rescue scenarios designed to test responders’ skills and readiness during emergencies.
Aside from securing the coveted overall championship, Team Capiz brought home eight awards, highlighting its consistent excellence in various aspects of emergency response.
The team emerged as champion in the Obstacle Course and also received the Best Runtime, Best in Uniform, Most Disciplined, Best in High Angle Rescue, and Best in Patient Management awards. It also placed second in the Static Display category.
The three-day competition featured simulated rescue operations, including high-angle rescues, obstacle navigation, and patient management exercises that assessed participants’ technical proficiency, teamwork, and disaster response capabilities.
Provincial officials attributed the team’s continued success to its intensive training, discipline, and commitment to maintaining high standards in emergency preparedness.
Gov. Fredenil H. Castro lauded the rescuers for their achievement, saying their third consecutive overall championship reflects the dedication and competence of Capiz’s emergency responders.
The provincial government also said the victory underscores its continued support for strengthening disaster preparedness and serves as an inspiration for aspiring rescuers to uphold the mission of protecting communities during emergencies./PN
