BACOLOD City — A 60-year-old woman was arrested during a police anti-illegal gambling operation in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City on September 15.
Operatives of Police Station 7 of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), led by Station Commander Capt. Jay-R P. Reyes, conducted the operation at Purok Acco Housing, resulting in the arrest of the suspect identified only by her alias “Nene,” a resident of the area.
Police alleged that the suspect was involved in operating an illegal numbers game locally referred to as “STL bookies.”
Recovered from her possession were one betting slip, one tally sheet, one betting stub, one black ballpen and a P20 coin allegedly used as bet money, police said.
The suspect and the confiscated items were brought to Police Station 7 for documentation and proper disposition.
Police said charges are being prepared against the suspect for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9287, or the Anti-Illegal Numbers Games Act of 2004.
