Aklan logs new COVID-19 case, total now at 6

KALIBO, Aklan – This capital town recorded its third confirmed case of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which brings the total cases of the virus to six in this province as of April 5, according to the Provincial Health Office in Aklan (PHO-Aklan).

PHO-Aklan Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr. said the 40-year-old male person under investigation’s cough swab samples sent to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City tested positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 – the virus causing COVID-19.

The patient arrived from Manila to this province on March 14 and started experiencing cough on March 23. Last week, he went for consultation at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH).

The other two COVID-19-positive patients in this town are the 68-year-old man and his 66-year-old wife, who are both being treated in the DRSTMH. They manifested flu-like symptoms of the virus before they were confined in the hospital. 

Meanwhile, the three other cases of the COVID-19 in this province are the following:
* A 37-year-old medical frontiner from Malay town, who is now in isolation at the Aklan Training Center there. 
* An 81-year-old man from Libacao town, who was admitted in DRSTMH.
* A 44-year-old resident of Altavas town but works in Roxas City, Capiz.

The COVID-19 alert status of DRSTMH remains at level 2 despite admitting patients from this capital town, Libacao town and from San Jose, Romblon.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
