BACOLOD City – The City Health Office (CHO) will require all ambulant vendors in the city to secure health cards.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved on its third and final reading the Ambulant Food
Vendors Ordinance on Aug. 30.
The ordinance – authored by Councilor Em Ang, chairwoman of the SP committee on health – will require the vendors to take a medical examination at the CHO.
Vendors will shoulder the expenses, the ordinance stated.
Indigent ambulant vendors who are members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program are exempted from paying the medical examination fees, it further explained.
The indigent vendors must submit to the CHO a village certificate and a certificate of indigency issued by the barangay captain, Ang said.
“The health of the people must be of paramount importance,” Ang said. “Public services must be directed toward the protection and promotion of health.”
If caught not having a health card, vendors will be fined P300 or one-day community service for the first offense, P500 or two-day community service for the second offense and P1,000 or five-day community service for the third offense./PN
