BACOLOD City – Ten police station commanders will sit with the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) to address the spate of robberies and other criminal offenses in the city.
The station commanders were requested last week to attend the SP’s regular session on Aug. 23.
“All of the station commanders will be there,” said Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky.
Informative consultation on the two recent resolutions approved by the SP will be conducted during the session.
One was the resolution authored by Councilor Ricardo Tan urging the BCPO to intensify its operations against robberies.
Wanky said the notorious Arnold “Aki” Cuadra robbery group was behind the crimes.
Three suspected members of the group were arrested on Aug. 18 in Barangay Bata.
On Aug. 19, a dismissed police officer was killed around 9:30 p.m. in Barangay 16.
Federico Nicolas, a high-value drug target, was on board a car when he was shot by suspects, who the police believed to be drug group members.
Meanwhile, the resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella also requested the BCPO to provide “proactive” measures to prevent criminals from victimizing businesses in the city.
Businessmen also offered cash rewards to anyone who can provide information on the whereabouts of known robbery and other crime groups in the city and Negros Occidental.
Councilor Caesar Distrito also urged the BCPO to give the public “a clear explanation” regarding the crimes that happened in the city./PN
