ILOILO City – Is a drug suspect in Sibalom, Antique coddling New People’s Amy (NPA) rebels?
Citing intelligence information, Inspector Clark Philip Dingco, Sibalom police chief, said two days prior to the NPA ambush in Barangay Bontol on Nov. 22, several men were seen in the house of the drug suspect.
The ambush wounded four policemen of Sibalom.
Dingco declined to name the drug suspect but described this person as a high-value drug target of the police and had a record of arrest.
“Residents told us they saw men hauling bottles of water and rice to the house of this drug suspect,” said Dingco.
“Reports reached us, too, that he is coddling an armed group,” he added.
The ambush was carried out around 9:20 a.m.
Region 6 police director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag said the Sibalom police’s suspicion on the drug suspect would be further investigated.
The four injured Sibalom police officers were hospitalized.
Police Officer 3 Gabby Orantes sustained a gunshot wound in the abdomen while Police Officer 3 Michael Alejo’s hands had shrapnel wounds.
The right arm of Police Officer 3 Salvador Cordero got shot while both arms of Police Officer 1 Jonard Laguna had shrapnel wounds./PN
