SAN JOSE, Antique – As of Saturday, Oct.31, the province of Antique had six active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) left.
Of the total 76 cases that the Provincial Health Office (PHO) recorded, 69 already recovered. There was only one fatality, said Joenes Jereza, a registered nurse and Health Education and Promotion Assistant at the PHO.
The 76 cumulative cases were composed of 43 local cases, four repatriated overseas Filipino workers, 13 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and 16 authorized person outside of residence.
The current six active cases were the following:
* 68-year-old female from Patnongon, hospitalized
* 40-year-old male from Bugasong, hospitalized
* 25-year-old female from San Remegio, facility quarantined
* 33-year-old female from Tobias Fornier, facility quarantined
* 49-year-old male from Patnongon, home quarantined
* 31-year-old male from Patnongon, home quarantined
Meanwhile, as of Oct. 31, Antique recorded 1,068 persons under monitoring (PUMs), and they were mostly LSIs.
Jereza urged Antiqueños to continue observing minimum public health safety protocols – wearing of facemask and face shield, physical distancing, and washing of hands with soap and water or disinfectant.
He also said Antiqueños – most especially senior citizens, pregnant women, persons with disabilities and those who are immuno-compromised – should stay at home unless going out is a necessity.
Data from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 showed Antique having the least number of COVID-19 cases among provinces in Western Visayas.
Aklan has 151 cases with seven deaths; Guimaras, 170 cases with two deaths; Capiz, 845 cases with 27 deaths; Iloilo, 2,045 cases with 58 deaths; Iloilo City, 4,006 cases with 87 deaths; Negros Occidental, 4,661 cases with 79 deaths; and Bacolod City, 4,805 cases with 126 deaths./PN
