BORACAY – This weekend, visitors in this resort island will experience the world-renowned Ati-Atihan Festival.
Boracay Ati-Atihan, now on its fourth year, brings to the island the celebration famously held annually in Kalibo, Aklan.
An Opening Salvo and the Kabataan Night will be held today, while the traditional sadsad, or street-dancing, will be held at the White Beach tomorrow.
Students and staffs from high schools in the island, as well as tourists, residents, and representatives of business establishments, are expected to get clad in colorful costumes and join the festivity.
A procession of the image of Señor Santo Niño will also be held at the White Beach.
This year’s Ati-Atihan in Kalibo, the capital town of Aklan province, is from Jan. 9 to 15.
Aside from Kalibo and Boracay, the festival is also celebrated in Malinao, Makato, Ibajay, Batan, and Altavas. (PNA)
