BACOLOD City — A 58-year-old backhoe operator was killed in a broad daylight shooting in Purok Santan, Barangay Abuanan, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Thursday afternoon, April 30.
Police identified the victim as Evaresto Joven, a resident of the said barangay.
Initial investigation by the Bago City Police Station revealed that the victim was sitting with his wife in front of their sari-sari store past 3 p.m. when an unidentified suspect suddenly approached and opened fire, hitting the victim multiple times.
Joven was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Bago City police said the suspect was reportedly wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, denim pants, and blue-and-white shoes.
Authorities have yet to determine the identity of the assailant and the motive behind the killing. Investigation was ongoing as of press time./PN
