BACOLOD City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has so far installed 73 units of close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in strategic areas around the city.
Jomarie Vargas, CDRRMO head, said the city government’s CCTV installation project worth P21 million is almost 90 percent complete.
He added the budget was sourced out from the 2019 budget allocation of the CDRRMO.
The CCTV units have been installed in all major streets, inner areas and boundaries of the metro like Mansilingan, Granada and Punta-Taytay, according to Vargas.
He said the CCTV system is useful in the city’s efforts on disaster preparedness, response to road accidents, and street crime monitoring.
The city had existing 39 CCTVs aside from the newly installed, but only 30 of them are operational, Vargas said.
“We will test the 73 CCTVs once the installation is done to know if there are technical problems,” he added.
