MANILA – Balasan kept their unbeaten record in the women’s volleyball of the 2017 Biron Cup Inter-municipality Invitational Tournament at the gym in Poblacion, New Lucena, Iloilo.
Balasan finished on top of Bracket B with a clean 5-0 win-loss slate following a 25-16, 25-20 victory over Dingle (2-3) on June 17. It will face San Miguel in the semifinals match slated this coming Saturday.
Meanwhile Bingawan (2-3) ended its campaign on a winning note after a 25-15, 25-15 domination of New Lucena, which tied with Barotac Viejo (1-4).
In men’s basketball, Ajuy moved up to solo first place in Bracket D with a 2-0 win-loss record after defeating Balasan (1-1), 88-80, in the match held at the Sara municipal gymnasium.
Host Sara started its campaign with a 94-47 domination of San Dionisio (1-1). Dumangas also entered the win column after an 88-68 rout of Estancia.
In Bracket C action, Anilao moved up to solo first place at 4-1 after a 76-74 escape against Barotac Viejo (3-2), while Banate (2-3) scored a lopsided 81-65 victory over Carles (0-3).
In men’s volleyball, Balasan claimed the second and last quarterfinals seat in Bracket D after a straight-set victory over Anilao, 25-23, 25-15, at the gym in Barangay Tingui-an, Balasan./PN
