ILOILO – Two unidentified armed men held up a gasoline station in Barangay Tinorian, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo on Friday night, September 18, carting away approximately P13,000 in cash.
According to Police Captain Francis John Layog, officer-in-charge of the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station (MPS), closed-circuit television camera footage showed two suspects arriving at the gasoline station aboard a motorcycle.
The assailants parked, approached the male gas station attendant and the female cashier, and pointed a handgun on them to demand the day’s earnings.
After taking the money, the robbers immediately fled on their motorcycle toward the direction of the neighboring municipality of Anilao.
In response to the heist, the Barotac Nuevo police formed two operational teams to accelerate the investigation.
Layog, in an Aksyon Radyo Iloilo report, explained that one team is currently backtracking the movement and route of the suspects prior to the holdup, while the second team is focusing on tracking their escape route following the incident.
Police further revealed that they already have valuable leads on the suspects’ movements, though specific details are being withheld so as not to compromise ongoing operations.
Barotac Nuevo police have also identified a person of interest as the manhunt and investigation continue./PN
