ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) confiscated P1.6 million worth of illegal drugs and accounted for 142 loose firearms in a single day of operations across Western Visayas.
Data from PRO-6 showed that from the morning of September 18 to 19, police units conducted four anti-drug operations that led to the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of 233 grams of suspected shabu.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) led the campaign with two drug operations, arresting three suspects and recovering P1.2 million worth of suspected shabu. The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) also conducted two operations, and arrested two suspects and seized P408,000 worth of drugs.
In its ongoing campaign against unlicensed firearms under the Restrict, Track, and Turn-in Project, PRO-6 documented 142 voluntarily surrendered guns. The IPPO accounted for the highest number with 70 guns, followed by the Capiz PPO) with 27, the Antique PPO with 20, the Aklan PPO with 14, and the ICPO with 11.
PRO-6 also intensified its crackdown on fugitives, arresting eight wanted persons – including two listed among the region’s top 10 most wanted – while others face leaser offenses.
PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño assured the public that operations against illegal drugs, loose firearms, and fugitives will remain relentless while challenging low-performing units to step up their efforts.
“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating mga operasyon laban sa illegal drugs, loose firearms, at wanted persons. Ang bawat iligal na droga at baril na naaalis sa ating mga komunidad at bawat wanted person na nahaharap sa batas,” Tuaño said.
