BACOLOD City – The supply of illegal drugs in this capital city has decreased, according to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
“Once makuha na ‘yung malaking supplier ng illegal drugs, ‘yun ang epekto kasi ‘yung supply pag na-cut, kahit marami ang demand, walang lalabas na droga,” said Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting director of the BCPO.
Ebreo was referring to a drug buy-bust operation that the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) from Police Station 2 staged on July 4.
The sting operation led to the confiscation of illegal drugs worth about P3 million from live-in partners Reyden Palomero and Rica Mitch Villalon.
“Nang makuha natin ang mag-leave-in partner, nung week na ‘yun bihira na na may drugs na umikot sa Bacolod,” said Ebreo.
The BCPO head said Palomero had been supplying illegal drugs not only in Bacolod but also in Talisay City.
Now that he was detained, “mahihirapan na silang (drug users and pushers) makakuha [ng drugs],” Ebreo stressed.
The number of drug operations in Bacolod declined this month compared to that in June, BCPO data showed.
From July 1 to 24, the CDEU has conducted 27 operations that led to the arrest of 34 individuals and filing of 30 cases.
During the period, a total of 264 grams of illegal drugs valued at around P3,987,651 were seized.
In June, the BCPO conducted 45 drug operations with 66 individuals arrested, 166 cases filed and 164.71 grams of illegal drugs valued at around P2,470,744.50 seized.
“Although mas konti ‘yung operations natin this month, malalaki ang nahuli natin,” said Ebreo.
He attributed the increased drug confiscation to the support the BCPO gets from various sectors in the community./PN
