BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental provincial government employees were set to receive three “big payouts” this November.
“We are preparing for the release of the first tranche of the Salary Standardization Law 4, 14th-month bonus, and the 13th-month and Christmas bonuses,” said Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Salvador Escalante.
The committee on finance chairman cannot disclose yet how much had been allotted for the benefits.
“We are still waiting for the final computation from the Provincial Budget Office,” said Escalante. The Board member assured that the provincial government “has enough budget for everything.”
Meanwhile the Department of Budget and Management Region 6 is “leaving it to the province to work out the final determination of its personnel services (PS) and show proof that such indeed has not exceeded statutory PS limitations.”
“We do not discount the possibility, however, that as the years progress, the province could generate PS savings by way of unfilled vacant positions, salary lapses due to retirement or resignation of personnel and other applicable cost cutting measures — which, if taken together, can offset the excess over the PS limitation or may even result in having more fiscal headroom that would warrant the provision for additional PS cost such the implementation of the Modified Salary Schedule authorized under Executive Order No.201,” Regional Director Alfonso Bedonia Jr. wrote Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. on Oct. 18./PN
