BACOLOD City – A body was found inside a scorched nipa house in Sitio Monarch, Barangay Canlandog, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
Municipal police identified the body as Joy Paulino, a 26-year-old male.
The burned remains were found around 12:30 a.m. on Monday.
Senior Inspector Hector Balbon, municipal police chief, said they believe the man was killed and his house burned to cover up the crime.
Police recovered from the crime scene four fired cartridges, a live bullet of carbine and two pellets of a 12-gauge shotgun.
Investigators have yet to identify the perpetrators and the motive as of this writing.
Balbon said they were looking into possible land dispute.
Police said Paulino was living alone and cultivating plants./PN
