ROXAS City – An alleged “bomb” was found near the city hall on Thursday.
It turned out that what looked like a hand grenade placed under a tree was actually an energy drink bottle labeled “BOMBA.”
The incident stirred city hall employees as the police advised them to vacate the building around 8:30 a.m.
Personnel from the Capiz Police Provincial Office’s Explosives and Ordnance Division, the Capiz Emergency Response Team, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and other rescue and emergency organizations rushed to the city hall — only to find out they were alerted by a hoax.
After a two-hour inspection Chief Inspector Ramil Intereso, a bomb expert, confirmed the alleged explosive was a fake.
The bottle contained a purple liquid, while its label was a sticker paper.
“Unscrupulous people may have placed it there to make fun of others,” said Intereso.
