BORACAY – The police here is intensify its campaign against the intrusion of unregistered workers.
The illegal entry violates the Aklan provincial ordinance mandating a one-entry, one exit policy being enforced to monitor the influx of people and ensure the safety of residents, visitors and workers in the island.
Malay, Aklan chief of police Lieutenant Colonel Don Dicksie De Dios said they monitored early morning entry of individuals from Tablas and Hambil (Carabao Island) in Romblon province through Diniwid beach.
Boracay belongs to Malay town.
The provincial ordinance designates Boracay’s the entry and exit point only through Cagban port in Barangay Manocmanoc.
Any seacraft is prohibited to embark or disembark anywhere in the island except through Cagban port.
Apprehended intruders are fined for violating the one-entry, one-exit policy, the police said.
“Nakahuli ang ating mga kapulisan sa tulong ng 2nd Aklan Mobile Force Company sa paglabag sa provincial ordinance,” De Dios said.
Malay town mayor Floribar Bautista directed the police force and the local employment office to inspect employment permits.
“Mas paiigtingin natin ang seguridad upang magiging matiwasay ang pagbisita ng mga turista sa isla,” De Dios added.
De Dios also appealed to the public to call the local police or barangay officials for possible intrusion of suspicious individuals or groups to the island.
He also mentioned wanted persons in Boracay Island with standing warrants of arrest were apprehended while applying for police clearances at the Malay municipal police station.
Currently, Malay municipal police station has 350 uniformed personnel assigned to secure tourists and residents in mainland Malay and Boracay Island./PN
