BACOLOD City – A teenage boy was killed in a vehicular accident in Purok 4, Barangay Linao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The 14-year-old resident Michael Rey Tanguar died, a police report showed.
Superintendent Rhea Santos, chief of Kabankalan City police, said Tanguar was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle with the 68-year-old Virginia Eligino at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the accident happened.
Investigation revealed that Tanguar was taking a left turn on Santo Cantonog Street when a Fuso minibus driven by Emmanuel Urbano, 26, of Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City overtook.
The motorcycle and the minibus crashed against each other, police said.
Tanguar and Eligino fell off the motorcycle, sustaining injuries.
They were rushed to the Dr. Gumercindo Garcia Memorial Hospital in Kabankalan City where attending physician Dr. Lloyd Minia pronounced Tanguar “dead on arrival.”
Eligino was currently under treatment, police said.
Urbano, on the other hand, was detained at the Kabankalan City police station lockup facility./PN
