BACOLOD City – A porter at the Bredco port had been shot in the head by a fellow porter over debt around 5 p.m. on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Jesronel Sitjar of Barangay 2 died of a gunshot wound inflicted by a .45 pistol. He was taken to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but expired around 10:33 p.m.
Sitjar went to buy viand when the suspect accosted him, police said, citing the victim’s mother Adelina. The mother said her son owed the suspect money.
Police led by Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias were also looking into an illegal drug-related motive.
The suspect fled toward an unknown direction on board a motorcycle, police said.
It was learned the victim recently married the 38-year-old Analyn, his partner of nine years./PN
