‘Broken-hearted’ cop walks naked in Boracay

ILOILO City – A police officer believed to be suffering from depression has been placed under custody for walking naked in the world-famous Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.

Malay municipal police station chief, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Pablito, said the cop is a member of the Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) in Boracay Island.

According to Pablito, the cop was first seen outside his boarding house in the island naked around 6:30 a.m. on April 11.

Several hours later, the cop went to Pablito’s office and requested to be reassigned in Negros Occidental.

The police chief did not grant the MPU member’s request. Instead, Pablito advised the cop to undergo medical checkup and was given a lighter assignment.

“We have some consideration kasi sabi niya may dinaramdam siya. So, kapag ang tao natin ay may karamdaman, we really give some consideration. That’s why binigyan ko siya ng magaan na assignment,” Pablito explained.

The police chief noticed that since last month, the cop was always reporting to his duty late and was sometimes absent.

On April 12, the cop was seen again in Cagban port of the island. He said that he will swim going to Caticlan port but was eventually prevented and brought to the Malay municipal police station by his classmates.

In the police station, he became violent and threatened his companions.

“We placed him in the conference room and he was being tightly watched by his classmates because he acted violently. He threatened his classmates and was just talking and talking. I really pity him, that’s why we seek the opinion of the psychiatrist to cure him,” Pablito said.

Panay News sources said that the police officer started to feel depression after discovering that his ex-girlfriend found a new boyfriend./PN
