BUGOY Cariño confessed that he initially regretted having a child at the age of 16, although he eventually learned the value of putting his family first.
Cariño opened up about being a dad at a young age in an ambush interview on the sidelines of his upcoming film “Breaking the Silence,” when asked about his thoughts on fatherhood so far.
“Aaminin ko noong una, nanghinayang talaga ako. Habang tumatagal, nare-realize ko na gift siya ni God, so blessing siya. Kumbaga noong time na ‘yun,” he said.
The former child actor’s regrets are long gone now, and he eventually learned what it truly means to be a good father and husband.
“[Ngayon], mas maraming blessings ang dumating sa’kin. ‘Yung nasa isip ko na regrets ko, dapat inuuna mo na ang family mo kaysa sa sarili mo,” he said.
However, Cariño and his wife EJ Laure continue to deal with scrutiny from the public. Even though the ex-Hashtags member is used to dealing with bashers, he makes sure to help his wife in handling them properly.
“Pinaka-focus ko is ‘yung wife ko [since hindi siya] sanay sa mga sinasabi ng tao. Volleyball world siya eh. Ako sanay na,” he said. “Parang nasanay ako kasi show biz kaya ginuide ko wife ko… lagi kong paalala sa kanya, ‘wag mo papansinin. Pinapaalala ko pag may basher mas nakikilala ka.”
Cariño and Laure welcomed Scarlet in 2018, although the former child actor went public with their daughter two years later. His revelation caused a stir at the time since the “Goin’ Bulilit” alum was only 18 at the time.
