OGIE ALCASID drew excitement among fans as he announced the 2027 staging of his musical “Kailangan Kita,” featuring him and his wife, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.
The OPM veteran announced this through his Facebook page on Oct. 31, adding that the musical is scheduled to open in May 2027 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay.
Alcasid also made a separate announcement during the final show of “Bongga Ka ‘Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical,” as seen in the video shared on his page as well.
“Next year po, nais ko kayong imbitahan sa aking munting palabas,” he stated, noting that the show will feature the songs he wrote during his nearly four-decade career in the music industry. “Excited po akong ipaalam sa inyo na ako po ang gaganap at ang gaganap na aking kabiyak ay walang iba kung hindi ang asawa ko, si Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.”
He also disclosed that the musical had been seven years in the making.
Further details about the musical including the cast members have yet to be revealed as of this writing.
Meanwhile, the announcement of the couple’s upcoming musical came shortly after Velasquez concluded her “Finale” concert series, which featured Alcasid as one of the guest performers. (Anne Pasajol © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
