BACOLOD City – A detainee who escaped from the Candoni municipal police station in Negros Occidental was recaptured in the town’s Barangay Cabia-an.
Village officials and members of the Barangay Peace Action Team helped in the arrest of Ronilo Casipong, 41, around 1 p.m. on Nov. 30.
According to Police Captain Ronald Santillan, acting chief of the Candoni police station, the suspect was brought to the Rural Health Unit for a medical examination prior to returning to jail.
Casipong is facing rape charges with a P120,000 bail bond.
Santillan said the suspect pretended to be having a stomachache.
A police staff sergeant gave him a hot cup of water, and Casipong took the opportunity to escape by pushing the officer down, he added./PN
