BACOLOD City – Two loose firearms were recovered from four men on board a motorcycle in Barangay 4, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The 41-year-old Joelito Medez of Barangay Carol-an, Kabankalan City, Ariel Rivera, 23, of Barangay Baclao, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, and the 21-year-old Wendel Morales and Ronnie de la Cruz, 19, both of Barangay Patag, Silay City, Negros Occidental were arrested around 11 p.m. on Dec. 7, a police report showed.

They were caught after Kabankalan City police manning a checkpoint recovered from them a .45-caliber gun with serial number 087484 loaded with six bullets and a .39-caliber firearm with serial number EF110501 loaded with four bullets.

According to the police, Medez, Rivera, Morales, and de la Cruz – who were on board a black Rusi 125 motorcycle – tried to escape arrest but failed.

They were detained at the Kabankalan City police station lockup facility and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and resistance and disobedience to persons in authority under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines./PN
