MANILA – Ceres Negros will have a home-court advantage when it faces Global Cebu in the knockout championship match of the Philippines Football League (PFL) on Saturday evening.

PFL decided to hold the finale at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City. Cebu City Sports Complex in Global’s turf was unplayable, said the league.

“The PFL invited the clubs to signify their intention to host the Finals subject to PFL making the final decision in accordance with Article 2.11 of the PFL Tournament Regulations,” the league said in a statement.

It added: “The selection of the venue for the Finals was made by PFL based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, venue availability, commercial, marketing, and financial considerations.

“After due consideration and inspection, the PFL decided to hold the Finals in Panaad Park and Stadium, which had also hosted international events, such as the AFC Cup and the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers.”

Ceres reached the championship round following a 3-1 aggregate victory over Kaya Makati while Global advanced with a 3-2 aggregate win over Meralco Manila.

The battle for third place between Meralco and Kaya was also moved to today at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium./PN
