BACOLOD City – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a man charged with violating the election gun ban in Barangay Tapon Norte, San Jose, Negros Oriental.
CIDG personnel served the 42-year-old resident Oscar Amores a warrant of arrest at around 8:35 a.m. on Oct. 30.
Judge Winston Villegas of the Regional Trial Court Branch 43 in Dumaguete City issued the warrant but it was not immediately clear when.
The Commission on Elections imposed starting Oct. 1 the gun ban for the supposed barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Oct. 23 but this was lifted when President Rodrigo Duterte signed on Oct. 2 a law moving the polls to May next year.
Villegas recommended a P60,000 bail bond for Amores’ temporary liberty./PN
