ILOILO City – Ilonggos are in for hair-raising scares and a spine-tingling experience as the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) hosts the 2016 ScreamFest with a lineup of horror films, showing from Oct. 27 to 30 at Cinematheque Iloilo.
“FDCP Iloilo’s ScreamFest is a treat for families and ‘squads’ who can’t have enough of horror films this Halloween season,” shares Cinematheque Iloilo marketing officer Jo Andrew Torlao. “Ilonggos are encouraged to watch these films especially the Ilonggo Horror Shorts on Oct. 29 where six Ilonggo short films, in full Hiligaynon and Kinaray-a will be shown.”
Six horror shorts by Ilonggo filmmakers will be shown on Saturday at 4 p.m, making it one of the highlights of the event. Among them are Kinaray-a zombie film “Kagat” by Fatima Villarta which depicts a zombie outbreak in Guimbal town, “Sin-o angTiktik” by TM Malones of Salvi fame, and “Impas” by internationally renowned director Elvert Bañares.
Also showing are blockbuster horror films “The Healing” starring Vilma Santos and directed by Chito Roño, Erik Matti’s “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles,” and “T’yanak” with Judy Ann Santos headed by Filipino horror icon Peque Gallaga.
Those who’ll come wearing their best costume on Sunday can also participate at Cinematheque Iloilo’s “Trick or Tix” with participants set to receive candy and chocolates while a few lucky trick-or-treaters may win free Cinematheque Iloilo tickets.
“Sa tanan nga wala na klase kag sa mga gusto mag-out temprano sa opisina, upod kita sa pagpakulba kag siyagit sini nga semana sa amon ScreamFest!” invites Torlao.“May premyo ang maabot nga naka-costume sa Sabado.”
