CAPIZ – A female collector of Barangay Power Association (BAPA) was allegedly robbed in Sitio Silab, Barangay Batabat, Maayon town.
Police said the victim identified as alias “Dheng,” 42, and a resident of the town’s Barangay East Villa Flores was onboard a motorcycle driven by her husband, alias “Ting,” and were on their way to remit the former’s collection when the incident occurred on December 5.
They were waylaid by two motorcycle-riding suspects who were both wearing bonnets and helmets, declaring holdup.
The men took Dheng’s P100,000 in collection and her personal money amounting to P14,000 and fled toward an unknown direction.
As of this writing, Maayon police have yet to identify the robbers. Investigation was ongoing.
Meanwhile, in a Bombo Radyo interview with Engr. Edgar Diaz, general manager of Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco), he said their internal auditor reported significant funds missing from the collections prior to the robbery incident.
Despite a 48-hour notice from the office to settle the missing funds, Diaz said the aforementioned collector filed a police report alleging she was robbed by unidentified individuals.
He said the investigation is ongoing to verify the incident and check for possible money laundering./PN
