ILOILO City – Failing to present any document proving his legal ownership of a firearm, a 33-year-old resident of Barangay Lo-ong, Concepcion, Iloilo had been arrested.
Ruel Bayot faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, a police report showed.
A police officer found Bayot having a heated argument with Galileo Catuiza, a 51-year-old resident of Barangay Macalbang, Concepcion, at around 9:45 p.m. on March 13 on Puntalis Road, Barangay Poblacion in the town.
The officer, identified in the police report only as Police Officer 2 Alavaren, approached them.
Just as Bayot was about to embark on his motorcycle to leave, the police officer noticed a firearm handle protruding from the former’s waistline, the police report stated.
The officer arrested Bayot when the latter failed to show any document proving that his possession of the weapon was legal.
The officer seized the 12-gauge shotgun. The Concepcion police station took Bayot in custody./PN
