ILOILO City – In three months, police officers in Western Visayas have “neutralized” 674 drug personalities.
Of the number, 411 were “street-level targets” and “high-value targets” who were subjects of operations from Dec. 5, 2017 to Feb. 27, 2018, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said.
Two hundred sixty-three turned themselves in at different police stations.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) had the most number of arrested drug personalities during the period with 174. The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) had 122 and Iloilo City Police Office, 47.
The Noppo had the most number of drug personalities who surrendered with 119. The Antique PPO had 50 and the BCPO, 49, PRO-6 records showed.
The numbers were expected to rack up as the police intensify the crackdown on drugs, said PRO-6 spokesperson Superintendent Gilbert Gorero.
Or “there’s a possibility for the numbers to decrease if our targets leave” the region, Gorero said.
He assured that they continuously update and validate their data with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 6 and other concerned government agencies.
The PRO-6’s 1,349 target drug personalities include suspected drug lord Ernesto Bolivar.
Citing intelligence information the Iloilo PPO received, Gorero said Bolivar was spotted in Bicol and Camarines Sur.
“Bolivar and other HVTs are still our top priority,” he said. “We will not stop hunting them until we get them.”/PN
