ILOILO – A motorcycle-riding police officer got hit by a public utility jeepney (PUJ) in Barangay Nanga, Guimbal town around 5:15 a.m. yesterday.
Police Staff Sergeant Jemon Ballestramon, 41, and a resident of Barangay Banago, Caluya, Antique, died.
The PUJ was driven by Edgardo Avilla Jr., 41, and a resident of Barangay Amorogtong, Igbaras town.
According to the Guimbal Municipal Police Station (MPS), Ballestramon was sent to Antique to undergo a physical fitness test (PFT) for his new assignment – the police station in San Jose, Antique.
The cop came from Sara town wherein he served as assistant instructor of the Regional Special Training Unit (RSTU) 6 of the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC).
Avilla was taken to the Guimbal MPS. A complaint of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide was filed against him yesterday afternoon./PN
