BACOLOD City – There were noticeable improvements in the police station of E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, according to National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6 director Joseph Celis, two weeks after he called policemen out for the station’s “untidiness”.
Celis commended the station’s men and women during his most recent visit on May 29, said Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).
All duty personnel were present when Celis arrived for inspection, she noted.
There’s an ongoing renovation such as the station’s roofs, ceiling and comfort room. Walls are also being repainted.
The personnel also started a vegetable garden under the supervision of Police Captain Eric Doronilla, new officer-in-charge.
On May 15, Celis caught at least four cops sleeping during his surprise visit to the police station. It also took at least five minutes for one of the police officers to finally wake up, he claimed.
The director was also not pleased by the untidiness of the police station and its stinking toilet.
The incident prompted Police Colonel Romy Palgue, NOCPPO director, to order the relief of then station chief, Police Lieutenant John Paul Tabujara, and the conduct of an investigation.
“The deputy station chief already submitted an explanation to the Napolcom and those of the six personnel involved were also forwarded to the Police Regional Office-6,” Donasco said.
She also said the NOCPPO stepped up the implementation of the Intensified Cleanliness Policy in all police stations as part of the directive of Philippine National Police chief, General Guillermo Eleazar.
“All chiefs of police have been directed by the provincial director to make sure this will not happen again. This is isolated and does not mean that all police stations in Negros Occidental are the same,” added Donasco. (With a report from PNA/PN)
