ILOILO City – Police Master Sergeant Hensie Zinampan, the cop who shot dead a woman in Quezon City on Monday night, doesn’t deserve to be in the Philippine National Police (PNP), according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Zinampan shot dead 52-year-old Lilibeth Valdez on Monday night. The policeman was reportedly drunk.
In the PRO-6, Malong said, unit commanders and police chiefs have been constantly reminded to monitor their personnel’s behavior and actuations.
“We are also encouraging them to engage in spiritual activities,” Malong said.
She added: “To our personnel, they can talk with their commanders or even to us if they have a problem. Maybe we can help them find solutions.”
Earlier, Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, PRO-6 director, told his men to perform according to their sworn responsibility and conduct themselves in a manner befitting their position as agents of the law.
“They should act with discernment, control their emotion and apply maximum tolerance,” Miranda said.
He added that the PRO-6 does not and will never condone any criminal act of police officers.
Zinampan shot the woman around 9:30 p.m. on May 31 at a store in Sitio Ruby, Barangay Greater Fairview, Quezon City. The incident was caught on the now-viral video of the woman’s grandson.
The victim’s son and Zinampan had a fistfight on May 1. Since then, the policeman reportedly threatened the family.
General Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the PNP, ordered the filing of administrative charges against Zinampan.
The cop would also be kicked out of the PNP./PN
