ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. hopes more local chief executives (LCEs) and residents of this province would be vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The governor got his first dose of China’s CoronaVac jab on April 27. A staff from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) administered the shot.

“Una, gin-counseling ako kon ano ang matabo. Gin-check ang vital signs ko kag kon ano ang gina-agyan nga proseso,” Defensor told Panay News.

Defensor said he stayed for 30 minutes after vaccination for monitoring.

The governor said he hasn’t felt any adverse side effects.

Defensor and all governors in Western Visayas were included in the National COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center’s priority list of LCEs in areas deemed as “critical and high risk.”

Importante ang obra naton nga mayors. We should also protect them. Indi puede malatnan ang mga mayors kay ma-untat ang ila pag-obra,” said Defensor.

He added: “Mas maayo nga ma-atinder ta man ang aton LCEs kay kinahanglan ta sila… Indi ‘na sila puede ka-untat so maayo gid nga ma-encouage naton sila.”

As of Monday, April 26, five mayors in Iloilo province have been vaccinated: Carlos Cabangal Jr. of Banate, Mark Palabrica of Bingawan, Ma. Lina Holipas of Leon, Raul Banias of Concepcion, and Rey Grabato of Mina.

“Ang tuyo sang LCEs ma-enganyo ang aton mga kasimanwa nga tama ka importante ang pagpabakuna in our campaign against COVID-19,” the governor said./PN
